So basically the media is now calling John McCain an outright liar. This is news. It's also the media actually doing their job (which Jake, among a handful of others, actually does routinely). In any case, this is bad. McCain is basically putting out ads (well, they're not even ads, because they're not really running them anywhere - they're just hoping the media will show them for free, and they do) - but McCain is running ads that are just flat out lies. He did it about the BS "Obama blew off the troops in Afghanistan" lie, and he's been doing it ever since. And now John McCain is lying about Iran, with the goal of scaring America's Jewish community - scaring them with a lie. Full story...
They sure don't make them like Jimmy Carter anymore. He's 84 and still traveling the world for humanitarian missions.
And Phil Gramm still thinks he is right. Nope, nothing wrong with his economic theories or actions at all.
Not politics, just cool:
Slowly rolling across the ocean floor, a humble single-celled creature is poised to revolutionize our understanding of how complex life evolved on Earth.
Just came upon this, apparently folks discovered it this past September (that'll teach me not to check my ThinkProgress).
It seems like there's a lot of non-political cool news today, such as this meteor that landed in western Canada last night: Here's another look:
From Greg Sargent:
Ben Smith points out that the statement from Hillary's spokesperson, which says today's reports are "premature," is nonetheless basically confirmation that she and Obama will reach a deal and she'll be his Secretary of State.
The wild ride on Wall Street continues. After eight years of the George Bush/GOP economic policy, news of Obama's pick for Treasury Secretary set off a rally.
From the Wash Post:
New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson has emerged as a "serious contender" to head the Commerce Department under President-elect Barack Obama, according to a Democratic official close to the proceedings.
